Mistress Mary Sidney, Maid of Honor

I am Mistress Mary Sidney. Born on October 27, 1561 as daughter of Sir Henry Sidney - Knight of the Garter, Lord President of Wales, and Deputy of Ireland.

Ten years ago my father was made Lord Deputy of Ireland. After several years abroad, and many misadventures, my mother Mary was taken ill, and she and I came back to England. I do miss my sister Elizabeth, who had stayed in Ireland to look after my father, only to die shortly thereafter.

With my mother invited to court, I was as well. Her Majesty seems to have taken a liking to me. Perhaps it is because I also have a bit of a rebellious nature. My cousin, Mistress Phillipa Fitzwilliam, is staying with her aunt, my mother while we are on progress with the Queen. I enjoy having her here, as she is one of my best friends, but I do admit there are times she gets under my skin like a rash.

My mother has plans to marry me off to Henry Herbert, the 2nd Earl of Pembroke, but I confess I do not find him attractive in the least. Mayhap I can convince her of a more worthy suitor.
