Mistress Mary Fitton,
Maid of Honor
as portrayed by Kari Ostafinski
Good Morrow, Gentles –
I am Mistress Mary Fitton, Maid of Honor
to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. I was born to Sir Edward Fitton and
my goodly mother, Alice, in Gawsworth, Cheshire. I am the youngest of
four children, my elder siblings being Edward, Anne, and Richard. My
father has received the honour of the Presidency of Connaught, which
is only fitting as his father before him was Chancellor of Ireland.
Through
my father, I was brought to court to serve Her Majesty and placed under
the care of Sir William Knollys, Comptroller of the Household. I suspect
Sir William has an eye to take better care of me than he has until now,
as he has been writing my dear sister and lamenting the lack of attention
I have paid him. However, it is quite difficult to spend too long with
any one distraction, as I am at all times devoted to Her Grace and attending
her smallest needs. I very much enjoy at court, and find that the honour
of serving Her Grace is reward enough.
Though, the occasional admiring
glances from gentlemen of the court is always worth while…
I find
great satisfaction in my daily duties, and among my leisure pursuits
particularly enjoy dancing for Her Majesty. I am very proud of my position,
and am eternally grateful for the Fate which placed me here.
