Sir Robert Dudley,
1st Earl of Leicester,
Knight of the Garter

as portrayed by Bill Tice

I am Leicester. What is there to say?

I am a Dudley by blood and do acknowledge that my chiefest honour is to be a Dudley. I have been told that arrogance is in my blood, but I believe that not to be the case. I am a man who desires to achieve and most of all, serve Her Majesty. Elizabeth has chosen me for my loyalty and friendship. For this I shall be her most loyal subject and, above all, her trusted friend.

There are perhap others who find me not to be their favorite, nor wish to associate with me. To them I say, be gone. I need you not. There are time I error. There are times when I am against others. All men have this fault, so do not condemn me solely for it.

I am not fanatically pursuaded in religion, but being to my comfort in all of the substance thereof, I do find it soundly and godly set forth in the universal Church of England.

This is all I have to say.

God Save the Queen.
